(Editor's comment: Perry Ottenberg in his keynote talk gave an overview in which he moved from his particular experiences in Philadelphia to the great complexities of social and individual life which have led to an increased incidence of violence or at the least to an increased awareness of how close violence is to the surface of many aspects of modern society.
